Lexus teases new concept EV

It has been a while since Lexus began making hybrid cars, and the company’s future ambitions include hydrogen vehicles, self-driving transports, and pure battery EVs. This latest video teaser focuses on the latter.

From what little can be seen, we suppose the prototype electric car will not become a mass-produced model. Instead, it should demonstrate the general design philosophy the Japanese luxury carmaker is going to pursue over the next few years.

The two-second footage is not too revealing, and the technical specs remain unannounced. Still, if you try hard enough, you might make out the outlines of a hatchback in the video. This just might be what the company is currently working on. The prototype might come equipped with special wheels sporting built-in electric motors – this is what Lexus has us recently – but this tech is too raw right now anyway to expect it to become a mass-market feature.

Summing up: we suppose Lexus might launch a C-class electric hatchback very remotely based on this concept in about two years. The car might come based on the new e-TNGA the company is currently developing with its partners.
