Rumor: Lamborghini completes farewell-issue V12 Aventador

Lamborghini said at the Geneva Motor Show this spring that it would be launching a special Aventador series to say goodbye to the eco-unfriendly 6.5-liter V12. It now seems like the unit is almost there.

A man said on an Internet forum that he just ordered a ‘particularly powerful’ Aventador SVR. The claim sounds strange for several reasons. First, there has been no official announcement of such version. Second, the SVR suffix is already used by Jaguar Land Rover to denote performance cars. Then again, Lamborghini also holds the rights to the same letter combo, since it once produced a Miura SVR.

Rumor has it the alleged farewell-issue Aventador SVR will emerge in a batch of 40, with first cars shipping in 2021. The series will likely be track-only (i.e., not road-legal). The engine power is being estimated at 830 hp (619 kW), which is more than the latest Aventador SVJ depicted here – or the just-announced Sian hybrid, for that matter – has.
