Boeing & Porsche join in on the flying car craze

We have reported several times over the past month alone that car manufacturers were increasingly looking into airborne car tech. Take Geely, which bought Terrafugia and is constructing an aeromobile factory in China, or Hyundai, which is working on a similar project under NASA supervision.

Now, Porsche says it is going to join in on the fad and has Boeing at its side to speed things along. Wow… Look at these official renders showing a (so far) imaginary Porsche two-seater soaring on aircraft wings.

The German deluxe carmaker believes flying cars will occupy an important position on the international market as early as 2025. With the metropolises stuck in constant gridlock, well-to-do people would prefer to own personal aircraft that will still double as a conventional car.

No technical details are being provided this early on, just the renders for us to goggle at and wonder how exactly the big companies are going to pull it off.

On a related note, Boeing’s subsidiary – Aurora Flight Sciences – has recently ran a successful series of tests of its unmanned passenger VTOL-type aircraft.
