Next-gen Porsche Macan to get 700HP worth of electric power

The German sports car manufacturer has revealed some details about the upcoming second generation of the Porsche Macan SUV. The car will switch to the Taycan architecture and powertrain while keeping its 4WD system and getting a high-end Turbo S version with 709 PS (700 hp, 522 kW) and 1,017 Nm (750 lb-ft) of torque.

Julian Baumann, of the Porsche senior management, said that the battery-powered Macan will not instantly replace its ICE-powered counterpart. Instead, the company intends to keep producing and selling both variants side-by-side for another two years.

In turn, Lutz Meschke, Deputy Chairman of the company, pointed out that the nature-friendly Macan will sport a considerably revised exterior design, with a more slender and aerodynamic overall shape and a lower front end.

It is official that the Porsche e-Macan will hit the showrooms in 2021.
