Old Land Rover 6x6 gets back to top condition

You may think the fad for six-wheeled, massive pickup trucks is a recent phenomenon, but this is simply not so. In late 1980s, Jaguar Rover Australia imported a whole fleet of Land Rover 110 vehicles for military use. Each car was given armor plating and an Isuzu powertrain, while some ended up with a third axle. Classic Overland just finished restoring one such example.

The army truck, which had 30,000 miles (slightly over 48,000 kilometers) on the odometer, has undergone complete restoration and modernization. Changes included fender flares, new bumpers all around, a roll cage over the truck bed, and aluminum plating underneath. A Warn winch was added at the front end, and the running board was redesigned to be much larger and lower than before for that extra bit of convenience getting in and out.

The old 3.9-liter Isuzu engine made room for a GM LS3 E-ROD V8 TT with 430 hp (321 kW) and 576 Nm (425 lb-ft) of torque. The sheer size of the engine necessitated a bulging ‘power-dome’ hood design.

The restomod rides on beadlock wheels wrapped in 37-inch Maxxis Trepador Extreme tires. According to Classic Overland, the exhaust system, the radiator grille and the interior have also been upgraded, but no further specifics are being provided.

How do you like this Land Rover Perentie 6×6?
