Nissan X-Trail spy photos go online

Car spotters have tracked down and photographed the fourth generation of the Nissan X-Trail. It looks like the crossover/SUV gets a more prominently sculpted body and a high-tech interior.

The third generation has been around since 2013 and received a facelift two years ago (see video). The newcomer brings about much visual novelty, while still remaining recognizable. The V-shaped front grille is here, but the front fascia has otherwise been redesigned with a Nissan Juke vibe to it: the headlights, are situated lower than before, and above them are DRLs with turn blinkers. The rear end is wrapped in thick camo, but you can still see small brake lights mounted pretty high up.

The cabin has changed beyond all recognition and is now dominated by a digital instrument panel and a humongous multimedia display. There is a row of hardware buttons under the screen, and a climate control interface with a dedicated display underneath. New multimedia buttons have been added to the steering wheel. The gear selector joystick now reverts to the central position after switching, and there are a parking brake button and a drive mode selector sitting next to it.

The official premiere date doesn’t exist yet, and we expect it to be sometime in 2020.
