Lexus LX to get a new flagship version

The Japanese luxury car marque has filed an application with the U.S. Patent Office asking to trademark ‘LX 600’. In all likelihood, this means that the LX SUV series will soon be getting a top model.

The current flagship is the LX 570, which you can see on the photos and the video here. The car comes powered by a 5.7-liter non-turbo V8 engine rated at 383 hp (286 kW) and 546 Nm (403 lb-ft) of torque.

Interestingly, the number 570 in the current version refers to the engine displacement. If Lexus were to release an LX 600, would it come packing a six-liter engine? Neither Lexus nor its owner Toyota has an engine with six liters of displacement room in the lineup.

The more realistic scenario would be giving it the same 3.5-liter twin-turbo V6 mill as in the LS 500. Its maximum output is manufacturer-rated at 415 hp (309 kW) and 600 Nm (443 lb-ft) of torque.

Another theory states that the LX 600 is a model Lexus plans to introduce in the next generation of the SUV.
