2020 Toyota C-HR GR Sport debuts in Japan

A couple weeks ago, Toyota introduced the facelifted C-HR for Europe. Now, a similar update comes out in Japan with restyled bumpers, headlights and multimedia system, as well as a new trim version called the GR Sport.

Designed by Gazoo Racing, the newcomer gets the same kind of improvements as the rest of the GR Sport series, specifically different bumpers, 19-inch wheels, bucket seats and similar stuff.

The SUV ships with a 1.2-liter turbocharged engine rated at 116 hp (86 kW), which is now available with a new six-speed manual transmission. You may also opt for a hybrid powertrain, which will include a 1.8-liter naturally aspirated engine (98 hp / 73 kW), an electric motor (72 hp / 54 kW), and an electromechanical IVT box. Customers in Europe have a stronger hybrid option as well (184 hp / 137 kW), which is not available in Japan. Also, regardless of your chosen specs, the 2020 Toyota C-HR GR Sport comes front axle-driven.
