Honda brings a Chevrolet truck to SEMA… What?

Honda, which has been present on the USA market since 1959, has decided to celebrate the 60 years with an especially rich SEMA lineup. Unexpectedly enough, one of the cars on display is a Chevrolet pickup truck.

The company explains that it started its market expansion in the States with motorbikes, rather than cars, which exploded in popularity and soon conquered over 70% of the national market. However, the company faced the need to ship the bikes to the dealerships as fast as possible – and purchased a batch of Chevrolet C/K pickups for the purpose. Once of these vehicles, produced back in 1961 and painstakingly restored, will be present at the impending show.

The company has restored the exterior of the car based on a photo made in 1961 in front of its Los-Angeles HQ. There will be to retro bikes its truck bed, a Honda 50 and a CB160.

The first generation of C/K Apache pickups (500 kg / 1,100 lbs weight capacity) has been produced from 1960 until 1966 and preceded the Silverado series. The SEMA show example packs a 4.6-liter V8 engine mated to a three-speed manual transmission.
