42-year-old Porsche 911 lives again with Tesla Model S tech inside
This year’s SEMA expo will definitely keep us interested for many days to come. One of today’s most remarkable premieres was this 1977 Porsche 911 coupe revived with the Tesla Model S Performance at its base.
In fact, the body design is the only typical 911 thing that remains; the entire tech and cabin are new.
The car runs on pure electric power, delivered to the wheels by dual Tesla engines rated at 563 hp (420 kW) total. A liquid-cooled LG Chem battery supplies 32 kilowatt-hours of power.
The vintage car rides on enormous BBS RS wheels encased in Toyo Tires and sports a plastic body kit, Porsche 356 Speedster seats, a Momo steering wheel, and a roll cage.
