Next-gen Porsche 718 will NOT use Taycan tech

The electric 718 lineup will ship with a single and dual electric engines to choose from, but neither option will stem from the current Taycan EV.
According to the latest rumor, both the Cayman and the Boxster will be designed on a brand-new architecture that will have nothing in common with the Taycan. No official details are provided this early on, but two scenarios seem likely. One is that Porsche might choose the Macan EV as the powertrain and chassis donor for the new 718. The other is that the company might enlist the help of Rimac to design a new platform from scratch.
In any event, Porsche will use much aluminum in the upcoming platform design to minimize its weight and ship with top specification with 400+ horsepower (300+ kilowatts) under the hood. This is more than any of the latest-gen Porsche 718 models depicted here can produce.
