Karma Automotive announces an electric truck to rival Tesla’s

Tesla will be unveiling its first pickup truck tomorrow, but it will not be doing it alone: California-based Karma Automotive has just released a teaser pic of its own electric truck.

The grayscale image with the blue ‘Karma’ lettering in front is all we have so far. The car doesn’t look much of an off-roader, but it will most probably still have some cross-country potential. The exterior is pretty unusual: note the irregular beltline and the extremely short hood.

Karma mentioned this summer that it was planning to build a new electric SUV based on its new e-Klipse chassis. Perhaps the truck uses the same platform, too. Its name remains unannounced, although the company claims an early prototype version is almost finished and ready to premiere.

Karma Automotive was founded in 2015 following the insolvency of its predecessor, Fisker Automotive. It was brought back to life by its original founder Henrik Fisker, a Dutch-born businessman and designer who also runs a startup firm dedicated to EVs.

Karma keeps producing the Revero sedan/saloon designed by Fisker even after the company went bankrupt. The model has been updated recently; watch the video for the highlights.
