World’s last Saab goes under the hammer for $48k

The auction to sell the world’s last Saab vehicle to have rolled off the assembly line was announced this summer and commenced yesterday.

Car collector Claus Spanggaard, from Denmark, paid 465,000 Swedish Krona (ca. 48,000 USD) for a 2014 Saab 9-3 Aero with 66 kilometers (41 miles) on its odometer, thus adding a third rare vehicle of this marque to his collection.

The 9-3 is a sedan/saloon painted silver, with 220 hp (164 kW) under the hood, automatic transmission, two-zone climate control, bi-Xenon headlights, dual-tone leather finish, and heated/power-assisted front seats.

Saab attempted to resume the production of its 9-3 line in December 2013, but broke it off half a year later, having only produced 420 vehicles painted black and silver. The entire batch came equipped with two-liter, four-cylinder turbo engines.
