Porsche 911 Hybrid to dominate the range with 700+ HP

Electrification inevitably invades the automotive industry, and not even the most conservative sports car manufacturers are safe. After launching the Taycan EV and announcing the Macan, Porsche felt it was time for its legendary 911 series to follow suit.

CEO Oliver Blum said that the next Porsche 911 will be available with a hybrid powertrain and will surpass the current Turbo S and GT2 RS in terms of performance. One version holds that it will be based on the current 911 Turbo and Panamera Turbo S E-Hybrid, which will enable it to deliver over 700 hp (522 kW) to the road.

To keep the weight down as much as possible, the sports car will be getting a rather miniature battery that will provide limited electric range and will not be chargeable via the conventional means.

Porsche already has hybrid variants of the Cayenne and Panamera on the lineup, with the Boxster and Cayman coming up in the near future.

The Porsche 911 Hybrid will celebrate its premiere in the year 2022 or so.
