Jaguar I-Pace software update brings 20 kilometers of extra range

Jaguar has rolled out new software for its first e-SUV, the I-Pace, extending the battery range by approximately 20 km (12.4 miles) through a number of optimizations.

Among other things, the update tweaks the AWD system to reduce power consumption of both electric motors in Eco mode. Active radiator grille flaps now close more often than before, which enhances aerodynamic efficiency. Regenerative brake, remaining mileage calculation, and battery management have likewise been revised based on the research data gained from extensive road testing of the I-Pace eTrophy.

The car still ships with 470 km (292 mi) of driving range stated in the manual, but the manufacturer claims the ‘real range’ should be at least 20 kilometers above that, although it does depend on a wide variety of factors.

Owners of I-Pace SUVs will have to visit dealerships to have the upgrade applied, because the on-board hardware of the car does not support OTA (over-the-air) updates.
