Audi Q7 PHEV hits the market in two versions

Following their announcement a couple months ago, the Q7 55 TFSI e and Q7 60 TFSI e are now available to pre-order in Europe. Shipments should begin at the end of 2019.

The gasoline engine is the same in both variants. It is a 3.0-liter turbo-six unit rated at 340 hp (254 kW) and 450 Nm (332 lb-ft) of torque. This makes the electric motor the main denominator between the 55 and 60 TFSI e.

Integrated into the eight-speed automatic transmission, it contributes 41 hp (30 kW) and 150 Nm (110 lb-ft) of torque to the 55 version, thus raising its total output to 381 hp (284 kW) and 600 Nm (443 lb-ft). A much stronger electric engine is used in the Q7 60 TFSI e, giving it 456 hp (340 kW) and 700 Nm (516 lb-ft) total.

The 55 accelerates 0-100 km/h (0-62 mph) in 5.9 seconds, while the 60 needs 5.7 seconds. The top speed is capped at 240 km/h (149 mph) in hybrid mode and 135 km/h (84 mph) in electric mode. Combined-cycle fuel consumption is estimated at around 2.8 liters per 100 km (UK: 100 MPG; USA: 84 MPG).

The traction battery is rated at 17.3 kilowatt-hours in both models and grants them up to 43 kilometers (26.7 miles) of electric range.

In its most basic implementation, the Q7 60 TFSI e has 20-inch wheels, the full S line package, black exterior accents, LED Matrix headlights, and red brake calipers.

On a side note, the Q7 55 e-tron for China packs a two-liter V4 turbo instead and sends 367 hp (274 kW) along with 700 Nm (516 lb-ft) to the wheels.

Pre-orders are already open in Germany. Prices begin at €74,800 for the Audi Q7 55 TFSI e and €89,500 for the Q7 60 TFSI e.
