Arkonik transforms a Land Rover Defender into Reef D90, a dune buggy

British tuner Akronik has produced a custom Defender D90 turned into a neat dune buggy for a client from Florida, USA. The project cost around U.S. $175,000.

The short wheelbase of the D90 Defender provided an excellent basis for making an SUV capable of traversing sands. The tuner car boasts a cute sky-blue body that goes along well with the brown soft top and silvery accents here and there. The side sills are made of aluminum, and the radiator grille has been swapped out for a KBX one. The SUV rides on 16-inch wheels wrapped in meaty BFGoodrich All Terrain T/A KO2 tires and has Truck-Lite Twin-Cat LEDs at the ready for nighttime driving.

The cabin can accommodate up to six people and makes use of brown leather and polished wood. A 15-inch multimedia touchscreen display sits on the dash panel.

Since the performance specs are not available, we’d assume that the Akronik Reef D90 comes powered by the stock 200TDi engine with 2.5 liters of displacement, good for 108 hp (81 kW) and 255 Nm (188 lb-ft) of torque.
