The BYD Han is an executive saloon with innovative battery tech
Chinese car manufacturer BYD will be unveiling the Han EV / PHEV at the Beijing International Automotive Exhibition 2020 (Auto China) on April 21-30, 2020.
The flagship will debut in two versions: electrified and fully electric, and will feature innovative lithium-iron-phosphate battery tech (essentially a new, more efficient variety of the lithium-ion battery). It will also allegedly have an extremely low aerodynamic drag ratio of just 0.23.
Interestingly, despite being technically the same model, the PHEV and BEV versions will sport different exterior features, including the headlights, bumpers, fenders, hood, and radiator grille.
BYD stays silent about power specs, but rumor has it that the Han Hybrid will arrive packing a turbocharged four-cylinder engine rated at 192 hp (144 kW) and an electric motor rated even higher at 245 hp (183 kW). The Han EV will allegedly ship with a single 222-hp (164-kW) engine in its most basic implementation and dual engines in the more expensive trim versions.
We will only know for sure when the Auto China show starts in late April.
