Fiat 500e battery hatchback gets caught on camera

Carmaker Fiat is busy testing the EV version of its 500 model, as evidenced by these spy shots recently published on Motor1.com.

As you can see, the 500e stays true to the retro-inspired styling of the original. The next generation of the Fiat 500 should celebrate its official premiere in the second half of 2020, with the all-electric 500e coming first and its traditional ICE-powered counterparts following in a few months.

The Europe-spec Fiat 500 received a mild-hybrid powertrain in its latest facelift version (watch the video for more details). In the USA, dealerships are still busy selling the last year’s stock and preparing for the next generation to arrive.

A rumor cropped up some time ago claiming that the Fiat 500e would be present at the Geneva IMS 2020 in March. The company has neither confirmed nor denied it.
