Paul Walker’s car collection goes under the hammer setting a few records

Paul Walker, whose worldwide fame caught up with him after his role of Brian O’Connor in the Fast & furious franchise, was an avid driver in life – and met his fate behind the steering wheel of his Porsche Carrera GT. Yesterday, his entire collection was sold out.

This included a total of 21 cars and a motorbike. One of the main highlights was a 1989 Nissan Skyline GT-R R32 similar to the one piloted by O’Connor in the movies. The winning bidder paid U.S. $100,000 for it, a substantial sum considering that such sports cars rarely fetch more than $75,000 – and often much less than that. The right-hand-drive, all-wheel-drive coupe packs a 2.6-liter twin-turbo flat-six engine rated at 330 hp (246 kW). The transmission is five-speed manual, and the motorsports equipment notably includes a roll cage, a single Sparco seat, and a fire extinguisher.

A set of several BMW M3 E36 (see video for details) earned the Paul Walker Foundation U.S. $385,000. All cars belong to the Lightweight series issued in 1995 specifically for the North American market. The differences from the regular E36 M3 include a somewhat weaker engine (240 hp / 180 kW), lower curb weight (-91 kg / -200 lbs), improved suspension, a large rear wing, and a special paint scheme. A total of 125 such vehicles were produced, some currently selling for $150,000 and even more than that.

One final highlight was a 2009 Nissan 370Z that starred in the fifth movie. The buyer paid a record-breaking U.S. $105,600 for the sports car.

The auction holder redirected the entire profits ($2.33 million) to the Paul Walker Foundation, a charity company headed by late actor’s daughter Meadow Walker.
