Volvo CMA-based Geely Preface starts testing in China

Multiple Chinese media have reported that Geely started testing the production version of its Preface sedan on public roads.

The original Geely Preface Concept debuted at the latest Auto Shanghai show (you may find it in our gallery and the video). It will be Geely’s first production sedan based on the CMA platform by Volvo. Whereas Lynk & Co. bases its entire lineup on the CMA architecture, Geely has so far only used it for its SUVs.

The production car notably lacks ‘suicide’ doors that swing open against the incoming traffic, and has conventional side mirrors, while the concept had video cameras.

The technical specs remain unannounced, but rumors claim the Preface will hit the market equipped with a 1.5-liter turbocharged engine rated at 177 hp (132 kW).
