Victorian-era Mercedes-AMG G 63 redefines luxury with gold, copper and wood décor

Poland-based auto customizer Carlex Design has unveiled the jaw-droppingly awesome Mercedes-AMG G 63 Steampunk Edition. Care for a glimpse?

The very special SUV series boasts a copper roof ornament and a completely new cabin with a wooden floor, gold accents, leather and Alcantara throughout.

The tuner will be building 10 such vehicles. The pricing is private information, but you can make your own conclusions based on the highlights mentioned above, plus the fact that each car requires no less than 5,200 hours of handiwork.

The abovementioned cooper roof add-on, complete with hand-made engravings, is perhaps the single most striking exterior highlight. A copper spare wheel housing and 22-inch wheels with a matching finish complete the impressive image.

Inside, soft brown Alcantara covers the entire ceiling and the doors, and Criollo cocoa bean-colored leather encases the seats and other surfaces. The floor is made of American hazelnut wood, and the air blowers are encrusted with gold and copper.

The technical aspect of the upgrade is not mentioned anywhere, which means that the G 63 must keep its V8 4.0 TT under the hood, rated at 585 hp (436 kW) and 850 Nm (627 lb-ft) of torque with a nine-speed automatic transmission.
