Video reveals new Corvette Z06 being tested on California roads

The fresh spy footage shows the iconic North American supercar being driven on a street alongside a Ferrari 458 Italia.

The Z06 is expected to inherit the 5.5-liter V8 engine of the C8.R racer. That said, it might as well wind up with Cadillac’s V8 TT boosted to 800 hp (596 kW) and 950 Nm (700 lb-ft) of torque. Either way, it will be way more powerful than the LT1 V8 6.2 of the standard C8 Corvette Stingray with its 502 hp (375 kW) and 637 Nm (470 lb-ft) of torque.

Aside from the engine, the Z06 will boast its own aerodynamic kit, tweaked suspension, performance brakes, and lower curb weight. As for the premiere, it should probably happen this summer.

The Chevrolet Corvette Z06 will fight for the title of the Nürburgring’s fastest production vehicle. The honor currently belongs to the Lamborghini Aventador SVJ, which packs 770 hp (574 kW) and has the record time of 6 minutes 44.97 seconds. The non-Z C8 Stingray has already made a test run at the ‘Ring, crossing the finish line in 7 minutes 29.9 seconds – an altogether not bad result for a sports car priced starting from U.S. $60,000.
