Fiat unwraps 2nd-gen Strada pickup for South America

The Spanish marque decided not to wait until early spring to reveal the second generation of the Strada truck meant for sale in Brazil and other South American countries.

It looks like the newcomer shares its platform with the Fiat Argo hatchback. Therefore, it will likely ship with the same 1.3-liter, four-cylinder engine under the hood, manual five-speed transmission, and body styling. Spring-based rear axle suspension will probably constitute the main difference, enabling the pickup to carry up to 700 kilograms (1500 lbs) of cargo.

The update is long overdue for the current-gen Strada, which has stayed on the market for over 20 years.
