Cadillac’s Blackwing V8 turns out too large for CT5-V

The dual-turbo V8 4.2 Blackwing engine emerged with the performance-oriented Cadillac CT6-V a couple years ago. The company promised us to squeeze it into the CT5-V later – but failed, apparently.

According to Cadillac, the huge eight-cylinder unit proved simply too large for the model. For now, the company will be launching the CT5-V with the V8 6.2 mill of the Escalade. Just what fate awaits the V8 Blackwing when the CT6-V goes out of production remains hanging in the air.

Cadillac CEO Steve Carlyle pointed out that the company had no specific plans in mind regarding the engine. Even if it does go out of production, other cars will still benefit from certain tech features found in the Blackwing, thus justifying its development after all.
