Polestar: The future of infotainment is personalized

The premium carmaker has revealed its understanding of the direction the in-car multimedia systems are heading in. It sounds like customization is key.

According to Polestar, the units will continue to be predominantly Android-based, but deep integration with the various on-board systems will enable manufacturers to create what is described as ‘environment-dictated, personalized experience.’

Even now, Polestar infotainment saves multiple user profiles for HVAC, seat and mirror settings. Later on, the cars will automatically apply the relevant settings upon detecting their owners approaching then. The system will also be able to choose the optimal route depending on the driver’s personal preferences and the current weather.

The cloud assistant service will learn to understand more languages and dialects. Finally, passengers in a parked car will be able to entertain themselves with video services, taking advantage of gesture and motion control features.
