Bugatti celebrates 250th Chiron produced since 2016

The original Bugatti Chiron came out four years ago and has a planned production run of only 500 units. Exactly half of this number has rolled off the assembly lines so far, prompting the manufacturer to bring the 250th unit to the Geneva show for a celebration.

This particular supercar comes upgraded to the Noire Sportive specification, which boils down to black wheels and spoilers, titanium exhaust pipes, a new radiator grille and c-pillars, and predominantly black interior. The tech stays stock, but this is probably a non-issue thanks to the ‘stock’ referring to an eight-liter W16 monster engine churning out 1,500 horsepower (1,120 kilowatts). The track projectile zaps from zero to 100 km/h (62 mph) in 2.5 seconds and maxes out at 420 km/h (261 mph). The Chiron Noire Sportive spec is limited to only 20 production units total.

Out of the 250 vehicles thus far manufactured and assembled, only 100 have found owners so far. This means that Bugatti still has 100 Chirons languishing in a parking area somewhere – and provides a possible explanation for the Geneva show entry: the more hype, the better the sales.

Later on, Bugatti plans to launch the top-performance Chiron line, entitled Super Sport 300+.
