Tuned-up McLaren 720S & Dodge Charger Hellcat: The Drag Race

The two archnemeses – the McLaren 720S and the Dodge Charger SRT Hellcat – once again meet each other on the drag strip. Both come equipped with power upgrades, making the outcome all the more unpredictable.

The Dodge dragster hit the start line fitted with racing tires and E85 mixture in the tank. Its V8 6.2 received a boost from the usual 707 hp (527 kW) and 881 Nm (650 lb-ft) of torque to approximately 900 hp (671 kW).

The stock McLaren lags somewhat behind its rival in terms of numbers, only getting 710 hp (529 kW) and 770 Nm (568 lb-ft) of torque out of its 4.0 V8 TT. However, this specimen is not quite stock, either: a new exhaust system and engine software boost it to around 850 hp (634 kW). New racing tires should help convert that kind of radial momentum into sheer acceleration, and there is no forgetting that the 720S often outperforms Dodge vehicles even in its stock form.
