USA says farewell to the Chevrolet Impala

The last Chevrolet Impala sedan has rolled off the assembly lines of Detroit-Hamtramck Factory in Michigan, USA, marking the end of its 62-year production cycle.

The factory is currently undergoing a large-scale reconstruction and will proceed to the assembly of the GMC Hummer EV series once ready.

The Impala first hit Chevrolet showrooms in 1958. Its popularity fell in the 1980s, with taxi and police services remaining the most consistent buyers. In 1985, the sedan was pulled out of production altogether. In mid-nineties, Chevrolet revived the series as a higher-specced alternative to the Caprice with FWD and an integral body design.

With ten generations behind it, the Impala will never see its 11th update.
