Hennessey GT500 Venom 1000 gets ready to rumble

In September last year, Hennessey Performance said it wanted to squeeze 1,200 horsepower (895 kilowatts) out of the Mustang Shelby GT500. The work is still in progress, but the intermediate results are quite impressive.

The team has recently tested the Venom 1000 on the dyno, and here is the footage. Fueled with E85, the muscle car has delivered up to 833 hp (621 kW) along with 902 Nm (665 lb-ft) of torque to the wheels. This roughly translates into 1,000 hp (745 kW) and 1,152 Nm (850 lb-ft) at the crank. The main mods include a new belt roller and better fuel injectors, as well as other E85-friendly adjustments.

Despite the above, the Hennessey GT500 Venom 1000 still manages to squeeze up to 900 hp (671 kW) at the crank out of regular gasoline, which is great. Can’t wait to see how the team manages to hit those 1,200 hp!
