Aston Martin lets the Valkyrie out into the open

The British supercar builder has finished racetrack-testing its Valkyrie coupe and is now trying it out on public roads.

The company collaborated with Red Bull Advanced Technologies and AF Racing on the project. The hypercar comes powered by a Cosworth hybrid powertrain based on a 6.5-liter V12 and churns out up to 1,146 hp (855 kW) to the wheels. The actual acceleration times remain unannounced.

While not official, the latest rumors said Aston Martin was looking forward to a production run of 150 units priced around U.S. $4,500,000 apiece. The originally planned production quantity was between 24 and 59 units, but the demand exceeded the expectations several times over.

All those buying the Aston Martin Valkyrie will be able to opt for a special Track Package, which will include racing suspension components, an even more aggressive aerodynamic kit, magnesium alloy wheels, and titanium brakes.
