This E38 BMW 7 Series has spent 23 years in a time capsule

An eBay ad has been posted for this unique BMW 7 Series sedan, which its owner purchased in 1997 and almost immediately put into a carefully ventilated time capsule.

The car has mere 254 kilometers (158 miles) on the counter, and the current highest bid is €50,700. The auction will close on March 31.

The seller claims that the sealed capsule enabled the sedan to preserve its original factory looks and technical condition, and that there is no other E38 in the world as well-preserved as this one.

The time traveler sources its power from its original 4.4-liter gasoline V8 engine good for 286 hp (213 kW) and 420 Nm (310 lb-ft) of torque. A five-speed automatic transmission delivers the power to the rear axle.
