1,000HP Lucid Air EV does 400 miles on a single charge

Lucid Motors has taken its upcoming Air EV from San Francisco all the way to Los Angeles, without stopping to charge up even once in the process.

The journey started in the company’s headquarters in the Silicon Valley, California, and proceeded to Beverly Hills, LA, where the company had originally planned to open a new design office called Lucid Studio this summer. The distance exceeded 400 miles (640 kilometers), and the car went slightly above 65 mph (100 km/h) for the most part of the way.

The standard Lucid Air will ship with a single electric motor mounted on the rear axle with 406 PS (300 kW) at its disposal, and a 75-kWh battery sufficient for 240 miles (386 km) of range. The range-topping AWD spec will boast dual electric motors joining their efforts for around 1,000 horsepower (750 kilowatts). Its range will vary between 315 and 400 miles (507 – 644 km), depending on the specific conditions.
