Czinger announces a 1,350-hp racecar version of its 21C hybrid

Californian startup Czinger Vehicles unveiled its part-electric hypercar – 21C – early this year, and now intends to make it even stronger.

The standard Czinger 21C takes advantage of 3D printing technologies and comes powered by a 2.88-liter twin-turbo V8 assisted by dual electric motors mounted on the front axle. The cumulative power rating is 1,250 hp (932 kW), and a seven-speed sequential transmission is used to deliver the momentum to the wheels.

The new racetrack-only 21C will boast even more impressive 1,350 hp (1,000 kW), as well as a wider wheel span and a wider body for maximum downforce. Czinger also briefly mentions a special modification called Lightweight, which will sacrifice some of the horsepower for weight reduction. Its power rating is cited as 1,190 hp (887 kW), and the curb weight remains unspecified.

Both track projectiles will zap from standstill to 97 km/h (0-60 mph) in 1.9 seconds and finish a quarter-mile strip in 8.1 seconds. Hitting 300 km/h (186 mph) will be a matter of 15 seconds, and 400 km/h (248 mph) should be possible within 29 seconds.

Top speed is the one area where the standard Czinger 21C pulls ahead of the other two versions. Specifically, it is theoretically capable of 432 km/h (268 mph), whereas the other two max out at 380 km/h (236 mph).
