The founder of Dyson Ltd, British brand known for its vacuum cleaners and fans among other things, has shared some interesting details concerning the Dyson N526 Concept, all-electric crossover vehicle project announced in 2018 and canceled in 2019.
Apparently, the seven-seater was conceptualized as a dual-engine SUV capable of delivering 544 horsepower (400 kilowatts) to the ground. The torque amounted to 650 Nm (479 lb-ft), enabling it to sprint 0-100 km/h (0-62 mph) in 4.8 seconds and hit 201 km/h (125 mph) at most. The driving range of 600 miles (966 kilometers) was perhaps the most ambitious spec on the list.
The company produced several design sketches and ended up with a car approximately five meters (16.5 feet) long, two meters (6.5 ft.) wide and 1.7 meters (5.6 ft.) tall. It weighed in at 2.6 metric tons (around 5,730 lbs) and was meant to ship with 24-inch wheels.
The project was wrapped up when the company found it needed around £150,000 in revenue from every unit sold, which was deemed entirely unrealistic.
