Audi e-tron GT unexpectedly spotted on Porsche’s Weissach test track

The Audi e-tron GT is essentially an Ingolstadt-produced version of the Porsche Taycan, sharing its electric powertrain and principal tech. So, perhaps, seeing it at the Porsche test track in Weissach, Germany isn’t all that unusual.

The development vehicle even has Taycan wheels, hinting that the two will have more in common than the other way around. In terms of exterior styling, the e-tron GT will inherit the looks of its concept version from two years ago, which is shown in the video here. That said, it will probably get standard door handles and side mirrors.

The concept car boasted a dual-engine setup rated at 590 hp (440 kilowatts) and could sprint from zero to 100 km/h (0-62 mph) in 3.5 seconds. Its 90-kWh battery was enough to grant it up to 400 kilometers (250 miles) of WLTP-rated range. An 800V charging station could replenish its batteries 0-80% in just twenty minutes.

The Audi e-tron GT should celebrate its international premiere late this year and launch in 2021, likely priced just under the Porsche it is based upon.
