Lesage Motors announces a retro-themed roadster series

Lesage Motors, an obscure France-based automobile company, has announced the forthcoming production launch of a nostalgia-inducing compact roadster model available in gasoline (01T) and fully electric (01E) versions.

The open-top vehicle looks like some of the pre-WWII racecars and has certain similarities with such classics as the Lotus Seven and Morgan.

The 01T version will come powered by a 1.2-liter turbocharged Peugeot engine rated at 157 hp (116 kW) and 240 Nm (178 lb-ft) of torque. A six-speed manual gearbox will send the momentum to the wheels. Due to its modest size and lightweight build, the car will only weigh 650 kilograms (1,433 pounds). It will take 6.5 seconds to get from standstill to 100 km/h (0-62 mph), and the max speed will be capped at 170 km/h (105 mph).

The Lesage 01T will enter retail next year priced from €54,000, the company reports.

In contrast, the 01E will pack an electric motor capable of 134 hp (100 kW) and 220 Nm (162 lb-ft). It will sprint in around 7.5 seconds and max out at 150 km/h (93 mph) or so. Despite the somewhat inferior specs, it will be priced above its gasoline counterpart (€62,500+).

Lesage Motors claims it will only produce 50 units of each modification per year, and will update the body design every two years. Customers will be able to specify custom colors for the body and wheels, as well as choose any kind of interior trim and décor they like. The assembly process will mainly occur in manual mode, the press release says.
