Lexus USA reveals teaser pic & reveal date of the new Lexus IS

The U.S. subdivision of luxury car marque Lexus has posted the first teaser image of the next-gen IS sedan along with the premiere date and time: June 09, 23:00 UTC.

The media tend to agree that the shadow-lifted pic of the car evidences the same basic architecture as its predecessor used, despite Lexus slowly moving over to the TNGA platform. Serious design modifications are still within our realistic expectations, though – Lexus will want to make their new IS as enjoyable to steer as ever. The company is testing its new models on the Toyota Shimoyama raceway that mimics the layout of the Germany’s North Loop.

The new IS will ship with the old turbo-four engine with two liters of displacement, 245 hp (183 kW) and 350 Nm (254 lb-ft) of torque. Another option will come in the shape of a 3.5-liter V6 unit good for 315 hp (235 kW) and 380 Nm (280 lb-ft). The IS 500 is likely to wind up with a new 3.5-liter V6 TT, a 5.0-liter non-turbo V8, or the brand-new 4.0-liter V8 that Lexus is currently testing on its LC racecar.

The exterior of the car has been redesigned for extra sportiness and agility, and the V-shaped DRLs are no more. Finally, as you can see, the brake lights are now arrow-shaped.
