VW Arteon first teaser pic, premiere date revealed

The facelifted Volkswagen Arteon liftback and its all-new Shooting Brake version have been caught on camera multiple times, and today, the manufacturer has officially set the premiere date for June 24, 2020.

Based on the teaser image released along with the announcement, the new Arteon will get the same headlight design as the Golf Mk8, with a LED strip running across its entire front. The new estate/wagon version, which Volkswagen insists on calling Shooting Brake, is also shown in high detail here.

The Arteon facelift will most likely take advantage of the latest MIB3 infotainment system and an SAE Level 2 self-driving system operational until 210 km/h (130 mph). Hybrid powertrain will also become available for the first time on record.

As for the performance-oriented VW Arteon R, there is still no information about its strengths. Most expect it to ship with either the two-liter turbocharged Golf R engine (330 hp / 246 kW) or the cutting-edge VR6 mill capable of 400 hp (298 kW).
