Toyota unveils Fortuner SUV facelift in Thailand

Almost simultaneously with the reveal of the Hilux pickup, Toyota took the wraps off the refreshed Fortuner. The crossover SUV received stylistic changes, a powerful diesel engine and a new top trim level.

Exterior novelty comes in the form of new bumpers at both ends, LED-based lighting all around and multiple front grille designs to choose from. Inside, the new eight-inch infotainment screen is actually identical to that of the Hilux.

From the technical point of view, the Fortuner received the same improvements to its diesel engine as the Hilux, which raised its performance from 177 hp (132 kW) to 204 hp (152 kW). The peak torque rose from 450 to 500 Nm (332 – 369 lb-ft). Fuel efficiency has been optimized for a wide range of scenarios, with savings as high as 17% in certain cases. The power boost enabled the car to haul larger trailer attachments (max. 3.1 metric tons / 6,835 lbs).

The new high-end spec is called Legender and introduces 20-inch wheels, optional contrast roof, and other premium features.

The standard Toyota Fortuner will enter the market in Thailand towards the end of this month, while the Legender spec is expected in August.
