Canadians snap the Civic Type R Limited Edition up in mere minutes

After announcing its Civic Type R Limited Edition hot hatch several months ago, Honda proceeded to launch it in Canada. What it didn’t expect was how quickly the limited batch of 100 cars would be sold out: 4 minutes.

Pre-ordering the exclusive Civic was only possible via registering online and leaving a deposit of U.S. $1,000, made harder by the fact that the end retail price has never even been announced (and still isn’t). Apparently, none of it prevented the series from going out of stock in a few moments.

Compared to the stock Civic Type R, the Limited Edition brings along a new Phoenix Yellow paintjob, black roof, bumper and hood inserts, new mirror caps and BBS wheels that weigh 8 kilos (17 lbs) less than the standard Type R wheels.

Other than that, the hot hatch is more or less standard. Premium features include two-piece brake discs, upgraded suspension, an Alcantara-wrapped steering wheel, and a short-throw gear stick. As usual, a turbocharged four-cylinder engine sends 320 hp (239 kW) to the wheels via a six-speed manual gearbox.

Next up, the Honda Civic Type R Limited Edition is set to debut in the United States and Europe.
