Car Tuning

Lorinser warms the Mercedes-Benz V-Class up a bit

The history of car tune-up supplier Sportservice Lorinser dates as far back as 1930, and Mercedes-Benz vehicles have always been its main focus. Let us see how it suggests tuning the latest V-Class MPV.

Before we begin, let’s remind ourselves that the range-topping V 300 d spec ships with a two-liter diesel turbo engine (239 hp / 178 kW, 500 Nm / 369 lb-ft). It can be obtained in RWD and AWD versions and needs between 7.8 and 8.6 seconds to sprint from zero to 100 km/h (62 mph).

Lorinser offers a tune for the more affordable V 250 d spec that essentially puts it on par with the abovementioned V 300 d. Once the €1,500 PowerModul unit is installed, the power goes up from 190 hp (142 kW) and 440 Nm (325 lb-ft) to 228 hp (170 kW) and 507 Nm (375 lb-ft).

The modest V 220 d version normally pushes out 163 hp (122 kW) and up to 380 Nm (280 lb-ft) of torque. The latest Lorinser upgrade persuades it to produce 210 hp (157 kW) and 443 Nm (327 lb-ft) instead.

The Vito 114 CDI commercial van packs 136 hp (101 kW) and 330 Nm (243 lb-ft), and the ECU tune boosts it to 174 hp (130 kW) and 411 Nm (303 lb-ft).

Aside from the power kits, Lorinser ships RS12 wheel sets finished in Anthracite Gray and measuring 19 and 20 inches across.
