Hennessey’s new exhaust system for C8 Corvette yields +21 hp

Those of us who are used to seeing Hennessey Performance reveal one extreme power kit after another may be surprised to learn that it merely designed an exhaust system for the newest C8 Chevrolet Corvette. But let us not jump to conclusions.

The stainless-steel muffler weighs 5 kilos (11 lbs) less than the one it replaces and has a deliciously deep and full ‘voice’. Even more importantly, though, it enables the mid-engine sports car to churn out additional 21 hp (16 kW) and 25 Nm (18 lb-ft) of torque to the wheels. Squeezing so much extra power from an aftermarket exhaust unit alone is no small feat!

Pricing and availability remain to be announced, and the exhaust system will likely make it into the large-scale tuning package Hennessey is currently developing for the new Corvette.
