Car Tuning

A fifty-year-old Chevrolet Camaro gets turned into a track tool

Fully restoring a retro sports car after a crash can be daunting, and things escalate further if a stylistic overhaul or an engine swap are required. However, Kelly & Son Crazy Painters managed just fine with this 1970 Chevrolet Camaro.

The tuner shop says a professional racing driver ordered this one, so it shouldn’t come as a surprise that the quality bar was set quite high. The stock engine flew out, and a supercharged Lingenfelter LSA V8 6.2 took its place. With over 750 hp (559 kW) hitting the wheels and the Borla exhaust system hitting the eardrums, the ride is truly something special.

Detroit Speed provided the suspension for the project. 15-inch Brembo brake discs were installed, and a subframe was designed to guarantee the stability of the build. A fine dual-tone paintjob in silver and blue wrapped things out on the outside.

Inside, the steering wheel and bucket seats are of Sabelt brand, the dashboard is wrapped in leather, and a high-end audio system is present.
