“Friends of Delage” unveil D12, a 1230-horsepower hybrid supercar

A group of enthusiasts calling themselves “Les Amis de Delage” (“Friends of Delage”) have acquired rights for the Delage automotive brand that ceased to exist in 1953 and are now going to produce an extremely powerful hybrid supercar with a V12 under the hood.

The Delage D12 comes powered by a 7.6-liter V12 monster linked to an eight-speed dual-clutch transmission. Buyers will be able to choose between two main specs: GT (comfort-oriented) and Club (track tool).

At the first glimpse, it appears as if the car only had one seat, but it actually has two, the other one located directly behind the driver’s seat.

The development team claims their superhybrid is capable of running 0-100 km/h (0-62 mph) in 2.5 seconds and hitting 200 km/h (124 mph) in another 6.5 seconds.

The startup plans to produce 30 units priced €2,000,000 and above each. The first one will become available within a year’s time.

Les Amis de Delage also aspires to set a new Nürburgring record time for street-legal production cars, which means their racer would have to storm the North Loop in under 6 minutes 40.3 seconds.

The rights for the French brand name currently belong to Laurent Tapie, a businessman who supports the project.
