Maserati MC20 specs revealed

Maserati continues working on the MC20, its first mid-engined supercar with the company’s own engine design, rather than the usual V8 provided by Ferrari. The premiere is still ahead, but multiple media have already reported on the specs of this new engine.

Apparently, the MC20 will hit the market equipped with a twin-turbocharged three-liter V6 mill rated at 550 hp (410 kW). The Maserati Levante GTS extracts the same amount of power from its 3.8-liter Ferrari V8, while the Trofeo spec stays a bit ahead with its 590 hp (440 kW).

The next-gen GranTurismo, GranCabrio and Levante will all take advantage of the new V6, as will another, still unannounced affordable compact SUV. The latter will allegedly dial down the power to 530 hp (395 kW), which corresponds to the output of the V8 Ferrari installed on the Quattroporte GTS.

It remains open which models will incorporate this engine into a hybrid system and which ones will not. The MC20 should debut in both gasoline and PHEV versions.
