Hyundai reveals 2021 Santa Fe engine palette for South Korea

Following the reveal of the thoroughly redesigned 2021 Santa Fe SUV a month ago, the manufacturer finally follows up with the engine spec sheet – albeit only valid for South Korea at the moment.

The model comes based on the same platform as the Hyundai Sonata and Kia Sorento and therefore shares most of their engines with them. This includes the 2.5-liter four-cylinder turbo and the 2.2-liter diesel, which will hit the market first with 202 hp (150 kW) and 440 Nm (325 lb-ft) on offer. The gasoline engine will follow after a while rated close to 281 hp (210 kW) and 421 Nm (311 lb-ft) of torque, although these aren’t confirmed specs yet.

Customers in Europe will also get a hybrid spec, while the domestic market of South Korea will do without one. There will be FWD and AWD versions to choose between, and the transmission design will be eight-speed / dual-wet-clutch in all specs.

The car will ship in three trim levels. The top level, Calligraphy, will be recognizable thanks to its different radiator grille design and will come equipped with a digital dashboard, drive mode selector, lane control, collision prevention, reversing assist, remote self-parking, digital key fob, and other tech-heavy extras.

The Hyundai Santa Fe makes it into the showrooms throughout Korea today, July 1, while Europe will have to wait until autumn.
