Toyota RAV4 becomes Suzuki Across for Europe

Suzuki has unveiled a compact SUV named Across that is actually just a redesigned Toyota RAV4 meant specifically for the European market.

The car mimics the China-spec SUV Wildlander at the front end and has an original front bumper design with new air intakes and details.

In terms of drivetrain, the car is identical to the RAV4 PHEV, which packs a 2.5-liter naturally aspirated gasoline engine rated at 178 (133 kW) and 219 Nm (162 lb-ft) of torque. This one teams up with an electric motor supplying up to 182 hp (135 kW) of its own, an electromechanical CVT and an 18.1-kWh traction battery. The peak output is clamped at 306 hp (228 kW), and the crossover can run on its battery alone for 75 kilometers (46 miles). It needs six seconds to hit 100 km/h (60 mph) from standstill.

Sales will begin this fall, and the prices are pending.
