Ineos unveils pre-production photos of its Grenadier SUV

Ineos has posted a gallery of photos showing its upcoming off-roader Grenadier stylized to look like the first-gen Land Rover Defender. Based on the pics, the newcomer does a great job imitating the classic while still having its own visual cues and details.

Like its source of inspiration, the SUV sports an aluminum body, but its lighting, hood, handles, wheel arches, trunk and other details are new.

Only the five-door SUV and four-door pickup truck are available to look at right now. Both come based on a brand-new platform that incorporates a frame, solid-beam axles, and disc brakes. Powering the series are gasoline and diesel BMW six-cylinders.

The cabin will not be especially deluxe, the manufacturer points out. The seats will be draped with practical natural leather, and drainage holes will be made in the floor to keep it clean. Other than that, the car won’t have many modern options or even an infotainment system – you will have to plug in your smartphone to play back anything.

The final production version of the Ineos Grenadier will debut in 2021 and be produced in batches numbering between 25,000 and 30,000 annual copies.
