Nissan teases the Magnite SUV, sets reveal date on July 16

The Japanese automaker will show us the production version of its compact and affordable new crossover SUV – Magnite – on July 16, but sales won’t start until 2021.

The car will be smaller and shorter than the latest Nissan Juke. Judging by the teaser, it is getting an octagonal front grille, two-piece LED brake lights, boomerang-shaped DRLs, and narrow headlights.

There are indications that the car will be based on the CMF-A platform of the Renault Triber and Kwid, which means it will be FWD only.

As far as the engines are concerned, a turbocharged three-cylinder rated at 72 hp (54 kW) seems like the logical base option. Those who find it lacking thrust will probably get Nissan’s 95-hp (71-kW) non-turbo engine, which usually ships with five-speed manual and IVT transmission variants.
